Paul Dowling has headed up the creative direction, illustration and design team Dowling Design since 2000.
Dowling Design explores original, exciting and fun ideas in visual communications. They work on a range of projects including art direction, design, multi media and illustration for publishing, animation industry, universities and research institutions, and business clients.
They approach all of their work with the highest levels of professionalism and creative thought, understanding the needs of their clients and consistently delivering a unique and effective response to any brief.
Working closely with Mood Disorders Centre, University of Exeter and Help for Heroes, Dowling Design has been involved in the development of a series of cognitive behaviour therapy, self-help interventions, for people with mental health difficulties.
The design of these workbooks and case studies is informed by current research from the University of Exeter and NHS guidance on the development of written patient information, ensuring that layout, image and text enhance intervention effectiveness, engagement and acceptability with service users.
Paul Dowling is Art Director on Winnie and Wilbur, an animated TV series for children produced by King Rollo Films Ltd and Winduna Enterprises. Previous work with King Rollo Films includes The Extraordinary Adventure of Poppy Cat and Humf.

Paul Dowling has written and illustrated many picture books for children with titles published by Walker Books, Andersen Press, Orchard Books, A&C Black, Collins, Methuen and others. His books are all child centred ideas and concepts with the focus on fun and understanding for the younger reader.
